WHO I AM

My name is Melanie Atteridge. I am a physiotherapist with over 25 years of experience helping people recover from injury, reduce pain and move well.

I graduated from Sydney University with Distinction in 1996. Since then I’ve worked as a physiotherapist in Australia and England, and since 2008 here on the South Coast.

A love of snow skiing drew me to work as a ski instructor in Beaver Creek Colorado, for 5 seasons, teaching people movement of a more specific kind.

MEL'S BACKGROUND

I have worked in acute sports settings in Newcastle, and in Thredbo and Jindabyne, catering for snow sport injury and performance. My pilates training has been with APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) and I integrate this style with the advancements in physiotherapy knowledge. I worked with Narooma Physiotherapy Centre, from 2008 to 2019, looking after South Coast residents. In 2017 I started Physiotherapy at Broulee. This move brought me to work within my own community and I have never looked back.

In 2019, I studied ConnectTherapy™ under Dr LJ Lee. This approach has developed a new depth of understanding of the body's moment and connections. It has brought me a rejuvenated enthusiasm in daily practice. If you would like to read more about the ConnectTherapy approach, take a look at LJ Lees website https://synergyphysiopilates.com

I have more recently added lymphoedema to my scope and am now a Level 1 qualified Lymphoedema practitioner. Lymphoedema is a chronic condition and good management has a drastic effect on its outcome. If you would like to read more about lymphoedema, please see the page on this website.

When I am not being a physiotherapist, I am kept busy practising yoga, hiking, beach-going, gardening, skiing, and trying to keep up with my children.
